Your Career Is A Sitcom... So ACT Like it!

Your Career Is a Sitcom is a humorous, practical and identity-shifting guide for women in male-dominated industries who are stepping into leadership with a desire for work to feel less draining… and a lot more alive.

Every workplace has its recurring characters, predictable plot twists, dramatic overreactions and laugh-out-loud absurdities. But most of us misread the genre. We brace for a high-stakes thriller when it’s really a workplace farce. We assume a villain reveal when it’s simply a miscommunication. We walk into meetings acting like we’re in a courtroom drama when the moment calls for a quick punchline and a reset.

Once you recognize the show you’re in, the episode snaps into focus and the scene you are about to step into emerges. From there, timing makes sense and you have room to direct yourself instead of reacting. What results is confidence and emotional clarity.

This book introduces a method pulled straight from real practice: years of using acting, casting and character trait techniques to make work feel lighter and surprisingly enjoyable. Being that we’re binge-watching shows anyway, why not use the characters we already love? Their timing, their presence, their quirks, their confidence…we know all of it by heart. We quote them for fun. This book shows you how to leverage those characters as tools, with intention, when a moment needs rescuing.

About the Author

Denise D’Angelo writes and teaches about how organizations adapt when technology changes faster than the structures around it. Her work explores three areas: transformation leadership, AI workforce readiness, and the operating models and governance required to support both.

With more than twenty-five years leading large technical and organizational change, Denise draws from experience across fintech, healthcare, banking, and U.S. Department of Defense programs. Her career has centered on guiding complex modernization efforts where technology, decision making, and human capability must evolve together.

Through articles, thought leadership pieces, and narrative essays, she examines how work moves inside modern organizations and how leaders can redesign roles, accountability, and decision flow as AI becomes embedded in everyday practice. Her writing blends practical experience with clear storytelling so leaders can see what is changing beneath the surface of their own teams.

Denise also develops training programs, curriculum, and custom executive workshops that help organizations translate AI capability into real operating practice. Her sessions bring leaders together to examine how work is shifting, where judgment must evolve, and how governance structures must adapt as AI becomes part of daily decision making.

She is also a long-time mentor and coach to women in technology, supporting them as they build authority and resilience in environments where they are often the only woman in the room.

Denise writes, teaches, and facilitates conversations that help leaders understand how work is changing and how to guide their organizations through it with clarity and confidence.
